2006 - 2007 Year:

1. Did you know: Police wages were increased from $4,268,107 to 4,451,378 from the 2005 - 2006 fiscal year? Source

2. Did you know: Police Personal benefits increased from $1,646,655 to $2,352,767? Source

3. Did you know: The total amount spent on the Pacifica Police Department for the fiscal year of 2006 - 2007 will be $7,953,155! Source

4. Did you know: This will be an increase from 31% to 32% of the entire budget?

One would think with the liberal government in Pacifica, the teachers, schools, and parks, beaches, and recreation would be a higher priority.

2005 - 2006 Year

1. Did you know: As of May 2005, for the year of 2005, that 31% or $6,786,109 of the entire budget has gone to the Pacifica Police Department? This is more than The Fire department, Fire Personnel, emergency services, Parks, Beaches, and Recreation, and parks and building maintenance combined. Want to see for yourself? Click here.

2. Did you know: The latest budget includes $300,000 for 10 new police cars for the Pacifica Police force. I don't know if anyone is paying attention, but the Pacifica Police Cars look pretty darn good to me.

3. Did you know: As of May 2005, the budget for the Pacifica Police Department has been increased by 5.94% while the Parks, Beaches and Recreation budget has been cut by 5.35%.

4. Did you know: In 2005, the starting salaries for the Pacifica Police were $70,024, Personnel benefits were $28,658, Personnel benefits rose 129.26% over last year!!

5. Did you know: In the fiscal year 2004/2005 $4,268,107 dollars of you tax money went to police officer wages? To top that off,  another $1,646,655 dollars went to personnel benefits.

6. Did you know: 87.1% or $5,915,671 of the entire police budget goes to pay for police salaries and personnel benefits? According to the Pacifica Police Annual Report for 2004, the agency has 52.5 employees (I am not sure how they have a half an employee.....), which 37 are sworn police officers. If Pacifica has a population of 40,000, that's about $150.00 every year from every single resident in Pacifica. That number shoots way up when you base that only on the tax paying citizens of Pacifica.

7. Did you know: The new police station cost YOU the tax payer over $2,500,000 to construct?

8. Did you know: According to the annual police report, although the police force only increased by 1 sworn officer between 2003 and 2004, the police budget increased by $438,159?

9. Did you know: The starting salary for a Pacifica School Teacher is $38,386 while a starting Pacifica police officers salary is $70k +! Why would a city spend $70k+ on a police officer when teachers make less than $40k? Don't you think teachers are just as important, if not more important, than police officers in educating the youth and decreasing crime rates? It is a proven fact that the more educated one is, the less likely one will engage in illegal activities.

10. Did you know: for the 2005 to 2006 budget, the police budget has been increased by 11.75% or $797,000 while the Parks Beaches and Recreation budget will be decreased by another .15% or $4000? Reference

11. Did you know: For the 2005 to 2006 budget, the police were given a total of $7,583,692?
